Anaheim/Orange County Visitor & Convention Bureau Creates New Vice President of Media and Community Relations Position

ANAHEIM, Calif. (January 22, 2014) – The Anaheim/Orange County Visitor & Convention Bureau (AOCVCB) recently selected tourism industry veteran Elaine Cali for the position of Vice President, Media and Community Relations. Cali has been with the AOCVCB for 35 years, most recently serving as Vice President, Communications and Public Relations.

Cali will officially transition to this newly created role within the organization January 27, 2014. As Vice President, Media and Community Relations, Cali will be responsible for local media outreach to highlight the economic impact of the tourism industry, as well as work with incoming conventions on publicity efforts and story angles. Additionally, Cali will forge new relationships with community groups and build on the hospitality industry’s “give-back” programs that benefit the Anaheim and Orange County communities.

Cali has an extensive background in public relations and marketing, and her efforts have won the AOCVCB many industry awards for public relations, marketing, videos and social media programs. In her previous role as Vice President, Communications and Public Relations, Cali oversaw public relations, media relations, social media, content marketing and creative services programs designed to promote the destination and the AOCVCB partners.

“This new role allows us the opportunity to utilize Elaine’s vast destination and media relations knowledge, and strengthen our local awareness with the community by working extensively with the local media, as well as working hand-in-hand with and various community groups,” stated Jay Burress, President and CEO, Anaheim/Orange County Visitor & Convention Bureau. “I am confident that Elaine will excel in this new role and use her experience and talents to help our organization get to the next level.”

“I’m excited to be able to focus on the tremendous impact the visitor industry has on Anaheim and Orange County, and I think this new direction will open a lot of new doors for us,” said Elaine Cali, Vice President, Media and Community Relations.

Cali is an active member of the Society of American Travel Writers, Public Relations Society of America and the U.S. Travel Association's Communications Committee. Cali is a native Californian and has family roots extending seven generations in Orange County.
