Anaheim/Orange County Visitor & Convention Bureau Celebrates Fifth Year of the Certified Tourism Ambassador Program
ANAHEIM, Calif. (March 19, 2014) – The Anaheim/Orange County Visitor & Convention Bureau (AOCVCB) recently presented the Certified Tourism Ambassador (CTA) Business of the Year award to ACCESS Destination Services, and CTA of the Year award to Bobby Ivy during the AOCVCB annual meeting at the City National Grove of Anaheim.
ACCESS Destination Services, which currently has 18 CTAs, has been an AOCVCB partner since 1974. Ivy, a parking attendant at the Anaheim Convention Center who regularly greets and assists visitors, has been a part of the AOCVCB’s CTA Program since 2011.
“Long-time partner ACCESS embraces the value of the CTA Program and has placed several of its staff through our program,” said Jay Burress, president and CEO, Anaheim/Orange County Visitor & Convention Bureau. “Bobby Ivy goes above and beyond on a daily basis to welcome visitors and be a friendly resource to all those he encounters.”
The AOCVCB program, with the support of the City of Anaheim, is one of 18 CTA programs nationwide with nearly 60 Destination Marketing Organizations (DMO) participating. The Certified Tourism Ambassador Program is a groundbreaking nationwide certification program for front-line workers and volunteers.
Launched in 2009, the AOCVCB Certified Tourism Ambassador Program educates participants on the importance of tourism, facts about Anaheim/Orange County’s history and current events, and available resources to help enrich visitors' experiences.
Upon completion of the program curriculum, delivered through reading assignments and an in-class session and exam, participants receive a nationally recognized certification designation.
The AOCVCB has trained nearly 1,500 hospitality industry representatives and has a strong CTA renewal engagement year over year.
